Carbon Footprint

The Local Organising Committee aim to minimise the environmental effects of 8IATC in the following ways:

Use of electronic rather than paper resources

Along with paperless abstract management, this conference will aim to present a low paper conference. Through developing an ATIC website, we are looking to create the first IATC Video Library for keynotes and didactic presentations to be shared post conference.

Providing streaming as an alternative to flying

Those who cannot attend the conference may use the new ATIC website to stream some of the conference sessions if there is sufficient internet bandwidth, converse with conference attendees through a conference blog and online forum and submit questions and topics for the delegates to discuss. Additionally, the poster gallery will be made available online post conference.

Reducing food miles

As the Local Organising Committee prepares for the conference, sourcing local, sustainable food for attendees will be prioritised.

Using outdoor spaces

We will provide the capacity for delegates to present in outside spaces reducing the needs for air-conditioning, lighting and projectors as needed with inside presentations.

Provision of equipment for international travellers

Our plan to offer a range of pre-8IATC workshops and experiential journeys includes a plan to provide as much necessary equipment for participants as possible, saving them the need to bring extra luggage decreasing the impact of flights on carbon footprint.

Continued efforts

AABAT and the Local Organising Committee are committed to continuing their efforts to minimise carbon footprint and maximise the environmental benefits of 8IATC. If you have ideas on helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the 8IATC, we welcome your suggestions.
